Mother/Daughter Fashion Show

Finding out our third baby is a boy has been a wonderful blessing. He will be so close in age to Jack that we are hoping they will be the best of buddies.. or at least not drive each other crazy since they will eventually be sharing a room.

With that said, I have found myself wanting to do more girlie things with Katie. So I signed us up as participants in the Latte Tots Mother/Daughter Fashion show. We had to go and pick out our outfits (slightly challenging for me in my current state) and we both loved what we bought. We were treated to hair and make up by a local salon and the whole thing took place at the Houstonian Golf Club in Richmond. It was a really fun event. All the girls & moms looked great and Katie was pleased to see friends from our play group as well as from school.

We hope to do it again next year and I hope that finding something to wear wont be such a challenge for me!

Exhaustion!!!

I have reached the point in this pregnancy (almost 28 weeks) where I am not sleeping well and daily tasks are beginning to become a real chore. I found myself today, on several occasions as we were running around town, just taking an extra few minutes before we hauled ourselves out of the car or just after we have all been buckled in to just sit and close my eyes (much to the dismay of the person wanting my perfect parking spot outside Cafe Express this afternoon). I find these little moments to be very refreshing especially if the kids are actually quiet!

I am very happy to report that Jack's nightly disturbances, to put it very politely, are becoming less and less and now it is just my aching body and active bladder disturbing our sleep.

I said I would not wish this pregnancy away as it is definitely my last and I am not going to do that, I will however just have to keep taking my five minute rests and hope that will continue to get me through the day!

Getaway Weekend

We all went our separate ways this past weekend to enjoy different parts of what Texas has to offer. Katie fled for Dallas with Grandma and Granddad and enjoyed a fun filled weekend touring the Big D and Forth Worth with Meme & Papaw. It was a long drive, but worth it to see the cattle drive through Ft. Worth and the butterflies at the Dallas Arboretum.

Andy and I headed for the hill country and the Hyatt Lost Pines resort. We were very grateful for Nana who met us there and collected Jack for the weekend. He was entertained and pampered by Stormy, Adam, Dale, Mamaw & David (not forgetting all the four legged friends as well)...

The Hyatt was a great get away. There was no agenda, so set meal times, no set bath times and we could sleep in as late as we wanted! The only problem was that the place was so family oriented we felt guilty at every turn that we did not have the kids there to enjoy all the amenities, so we might have to plan a family trip back later in the year!

Happy Valentine's Day

We had such a great Valentine's weekend. Penny & Anthony arrived a few days before and then Stormy came to Houston as well, it was nice having a house full! This was the first time we had seen Storm since her return and she looked & sounded great (apart from being in extreme pain from a tooth)!

Saturday night Andy took Katie to a Daddy/Daughter dance put on by our local Parks & Recreation. They had an amazing time and can't wait to do it again next year. We will just have to convince some of her friends dads to join in the fun! They danced and watched a magic show and even came home with a few treats!

With live in babysitters we took advantage and went out to dinner on V-day.. Sunday was a quiet night, but just what we needed as the all important topic of what are we going to name our 3rd baby was on the table... We are STILL undecided, it is looking like we are just going to have to meet this little guy first!

Oh Boy, Oh Boy

I realized I have been neglecting my blog lately. Whether I have just been tired or lazy, I am not sure, but here goes!

We found out Jan 12 that we are expecting a baby boy! After the initial shock wore off (Katie has us all convinced it was a girl) we became very excited. Baby boy will be so close in age to our little man Jack that we know they will be best buddies (they had better be b/c they will be sharing a room). Our current challenge is naming this new little munchkin.. stay tuned!

We are very excited that Stormy is home from Chile, b/c of various sickness we have not seen her yet, but hope to next weekend!

Jack's big news is his walking. He is really getting brave now and taking unaided steps. We are guessing it will be another month and then he will just be running around everywhere!

During the above mentioned sickness, Jack was whisked away to Georgetown for three days where he was completely pampered! As we were starting to feel better that gave Katie & mommy some good quality time. We worked in a trip to the Zoo, Natural Science Museum and even a train ride downtown to meet daddy for lunch!

A Great Morning Out

Today was Katie's first day back to school, so my first day in a while
with my little man. We started out on a mission for a good deal on a
Christmas tree for next year. When that was a bust, we headed to
Memorial City Mall.

After a quick stop for coffee, we headed for the play area. We were
both a little apprehensive initially, but quickly warmed up to the
massive climbing structure and all the screaming kids. Jack held his
own and had a great time climbing and sliding. We played lots of
peekaboo and even made some new friends!


After a hour we were both exhausted, so Jack was happy to be strapped
in the stroller with a snack while I hit some new year sales. Jack is
set for trousers until he is three (at 6.99 a pair I stocked up)!

Then we headed for the carousel. With no morning nap and being tired
from our earlier adventure I was a little nervous! But I need not
have worried! I put him up on a horse and there was a grin. Then when
it started moving the grin turned into excitement with jumping! He
loved it and beamed for the entire ride. When it was over a small
tantrum was thrown while taking him off the horse! I think we will be
going back!


After a quick lunch at Berryhill, we headed back to Sugar Land. All in
all a great morning out with my little man!

Our 3rd Baby

Well I am 12 weeks today and it is really settling in that we are going to have our 3rd baby. If anyone actually reads this that I have not told yet, I am sorry as there are several people I have not seen or spoken with recently.

Today is Thanksgiving and we have my Dad & Robin here with us today and we were "Thankfully" invited to dinner at our good friend's house this evening.

Jack is growing like a weed, filling out all of his 18-month clothes which is why we had to go yesterday and take his and Katie's b-day pictures a few weeks early. I was afraid he was not going to fit into the outfit if we waited unitl closer to his birthday! The kids did great and Meme came to help. He is also cruising all over the house, grabbing hold and pulling up on anything he can get his hands on. He is eating us out of house and home and Dad is enjoying seeing what he will try next! I think his famous stuffed celery in on the list!

Katie has missed not having school this week, but we have made up for by having special play dates with friends she does not get to see very often. The past few weeks she has been very busy with birthday parties, Disney on Ice and a visit to the Children's Theatre (Frosty the Snowman) and she has loved every minute of it. She is growing up so fast, some of the poses she did yesterday at the photo shoot caused Andy to sigh...

We told Katie about the new baby and she is very excited, but certain that she is going to have a baby sister! We go next Tuesday for a scan, and there is a very small chance we might find out what baby is (if cooperation and development are on our side).
