Katie's Dance Solo

Katie's class did a little performance today for the parents. Sadly I was not there to see it live, but Andy did a good job capturing the moment. Jack and I were busy hamming it up at a Halloween play group party.

Good job Katie, mommy is proud of you!

Methodist Day School Halloween Parade

Katie's school celebrated Halloween yesterday by having a costume parade followed by parties in their rooms. I got to help with the party and had so much fun. These kids have so much personalitly normally, but put them in costumes and they were hysterical! They all loved the moms being in the class room and loved stopping to pose for pictures during the parade! Kudos to the school for all this organization, the parents really appreciate it!

Jack is on the move

I never post without a picture, but I will have to be forgiven this time. I wanted to get this documented, b/c the little milestone dates will be quickly forgotten if they are not written down. The day after his 10-month b-day Jack finally crawled. He had been so close for so long we were beginning to wonder if it would ever happen, I actually thought he was choosing to not crawl.

But now he has found his knees, there is no stopping him. He is showing me all kinds of things that need baby proofing and Katie is learning to hold on tight to her toys.

He seems very pleased with himself with his new accomplishment and I am sure he will love showing off for Grandma & Grandad when they arrive later today.

Sugar Land Sweeties

I know that we all think our own kids are the cutest in town, as we should. It is nice though to have someone impartial confirm this belief. Jack made the cut this month for Sugar Land Magazine's "Sugar Land Sweeties". I even made the edition as well for my good advice to new parents ;)!

Katie also made a local publication this past summer for her winning smile as she was part of her dentist's promotional piece in a local magazine..

I knew I had a couple of little stars in the making...

Our Katie is growing up

Putting it politely, Katie has been a bit challenging this year. She is asserting her independence on her wardrobe choices, what and how her meals are served and everything in between. But with all the bad things about asserting independence there is some good as well.

She is really loving school, but today I got the proof. I decided to walk her into class today rather than sit in the carpool line and I watched her hang up her back pack on her hook. Open it up and take out her lunch and put that in the proper place as well as removing her homework folder and place it in her cubby. At that point I knelt down with Jack to give her a bye bye hug and with the biggest grin on her face she said to me, "Mommy you go home with Jack, I'm going to stay at school. See you later!" With that said she turned around and went to sign in on the attendance chart!

I did not know whether to laugh or cry as I walked carrying Jack down the school corridor. I had a quick peek in the Tot's class on my way out realizing that this will be Jack's class next year and I did get a little tear in my eye... I have to remember growing up is good!

Jack Time

Now that Katie is back in school it is time for Jack to get to finally have activities of his own. We started at Gymboree last week and he loved it. He is in the 6 - 10 month class and will be until he is either crawling or cruising. He has started moving backwards, so hopefully it won't be too much longer until he is on the move.

He is happiest when standing (on mommy), so he might skip crawling all together. He is starting to be a little dare devil and let go when he is standing.

He is eating everything in sight, which included Katie's spaghetti at Carino's this week! His favorite at the moment is roast chicken, which his daddy approves of!
